The naming convention eases the naming in the create object process. In order to ensure that a naming standard is followed on the site, you can choose a name from a list of suggestions in the create wizard. You can either compile your own list of names or use an existing naming standard such as SEBA Naming Convention which is developed by Schneider-Electric, ecoxpert.se.com/design/selector-tools/seba-naming-convention

The naming convention needs to contain a column with names of objects. You can also add columns with descriptions or information about semantic type.

You prepare the list of names in a CSV-file using UTF-8 encoding.

To create a naming convention
  1. Create a spreadsheet file with at least one columns, containing names for objects.

    Tip:

You can add more columns, for instance "description" or "semantic type". In the process naming the object, the form in Create Object wizard will get filled in independently if you start typing the name or the description.

  2. You compile your own list of names or use an existing naming standard such as SEBA Naming Convention, which is developed by Schneider-Electric.

  3. Save the list on your Hard Drive in CSV file format using UTF-8 encoding.

  4. In WorkStation, in System Tree, select Engineering.

  5. In the Engineering tab, in Naming Convention , click Import
