Commission mobile application

Introduction

The EcoStruxure Building Commission mobile application is designed to help airflow balancers, electricians, and technicians carefully and quickly pre-commission and commission SpaceLogic* BACnet/IP devices and RP controller expansion modules. The Commission mobile application allows light weight devices such as smartphones and tablets to be used to commission and test controllers without the need for EcoStruxure BMS servers to be connected, minimizing on-site time and reducing costs. Various checkout reports are available to confirm that the work has been done.

* Formerly known as SmartX.

The Commission mobile application can connect to a single BACnet/IP controller via Bluetooth or to a network of BACnet/IP controllers on the local network, using Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.

The Commission mobile application does not require a license for activation and is available at no cost to the user. It is designed for use with Android, iOS (Apple), and Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices, and is available for download from Google Play, Apple App Store, and Microsoft Store.

After installing the Commission mobile application, users launch the mobile application by logging in with their Schneider Electric extranet credentials while connected to the internet. The mobile application can then be used for 90 days without an internet connection. During this period, the user can close and launch the mobile application without logging in. If a user logs out, an internet connection is required to log in again. 7 days prior to the expiration of the 90 days period, the users start receiving messages to remind them to log in while connected to the internet to start a new 90 days period.

Features

The Commission mobile application provides simple workflows to perform the following for SpaceLogic BACnet/IP devices and RP controller expansion modules :

  • Use of BACnet to discover and connect

  • Configure network communication settings

  • View status information and diagnostic files

  • Download application image files

  • Download firmware and update control via IP connection (Wi-Fi or wired)

  • Perform a restart

  • Perform checkout of inputs and outputs of a controller or an RP controller expansion module

  • Perform calibration and testing of devices such as lights and blinds

  • Perform commissioning of Modbus and Zigbee devices

  • Quickly configure application setpoints and values with Configuration Menus

  • Air balance terminal boxes controlled by MP-V controllers

  • Use the mobile camera device to capture controller specific data from the Data Matrix symbol on the product label and High Security Zigbee QR Codes containing IEEE Address and Install codes.

  • Provide feedback direct from the mobile application

Controller list creator

action_zoom_plus_stroke
The Commission mobile application allows the user to create a list of BACnet/IP devices by scanning the Data Matrix symbol on the tear-off product info label on BACnet/IP devices, using the camera on the mobile device. The resulting list shows the model name and unique serial number of each controller. Additionally, unique details entered by the user about the controller's location and associated equipment, as well as any comments, are recorded. This list can be exported as a CSV file for use by other tools.

Device settings

action_zoom_plus_stroke
The Commission mobile application allows either the easy discovery of BACnet/IP controllers over an IP network or over a Bluetooth connection. Filters can be applied to the list to display a desired subset of these devices. The discovery view allows the user to easily identify and select a controller to view or make changes to the configuration, including the controller's location, BACnet and network settings, and to set the controller's parent server.

action_zoom_plus_stroke
With the Commission mobile application, the user can download, to a BACnet/IP device, an application image file that is file from WorkStation or downloaded from the EcoStruxure BMS Applications site. This feature is especially useful in cases where control applications cannot be downloaded normally, through WorkStation, because the system infrastructure is not yet completed or is otherwise not serviceable.

The user can download firmware to multiple BACnet/IP devices over an IP connection. This is useful when an application image is associated with a newer firmware version than what is currently loaded into the controller.

Flow balance

action_zoom_plus_stroke
Using the Commission mobile application, the user has use of an intuitive workflow that allows airflow calibration to be performed without the need for programming. The Commission mobile application automatically guides the user through a five-step flow balance process. Manual Checkout commands provide the flexibility to efficiently verify and command the air flow values. Following flow balancing, a report can be generated in HTML format, for one or more VAV units. The balancing parameters generated during flow balance are stored in the parent server, facilitating controller replacement when necessary. In addition, the Commission mobile application creates a log file in the MP-V controller in which the steps performed during flow balancing are automatically saved. This log file can be viewed in WorkStation.

I/O checkout

action_zoom_plus_stroke
After wiring the physical inputs and outputs of the BACnet/IP devices, the user can perform I/O checkout to verify that the wiring was done correctly and that the physical inputs and outputs are working properly.

During I/O checkout, a report is generated in the BACnet/IP device. In this report, any failed connections are identified so that they can be corrected. When checkout is complete, you can view the report in WorkStation. This report can serve as a record of checkout progress during the installation of a project.

The user can perform I/O checkout on the RP-C room bus to verify proper communication over the room bus between the RP-C and the associated RP controller expansion modules. Module type mismatches or address mismatches can then be resolved. After wiring the physical inputs and outputs of the RP controller expansion modules, the user can perform the following tasks on the different modules:

  • DALI light modules: discover, wink, and associate DALI lights with the logical software points, and test individual lights

  • 0-10V light modules: test individual lights

  • Blind modules: calibrate and test blinds

  • Relay module: test outputs

The user can commission Modbus devices and determine their online/offline status.

The user can commission Zigbee devices by joining them either to a standard security, high security or VingCard network, associating them with controller objects and determine their online/offline status.

Browse objects

The Commission mobile application can be used to view all the objects within a selected BACnet/IP controller application, allowing the user to view and edit these objects as needed.

Configuration menu

action_zoom_plus_stroke
The Commission mobile application enables the user to commission a BACnet/IP controller and quickly configure its setpoints and values using the Configuration Menu feature. Multiple configuration menus can be created in WorkStation and each configuration menu contains a set of preconfigured properties. Configuration menus are saved as part of an application image that the user can download to the controller.

Diagnostic files

action_zoom_plus_stroke
The Commission mobile application allows the user to view and export the BACnet/IP device report, error log, or crash report, for use during troubleshooting or when communicating with product support.

Device restart

action_zoom_plus_stroke
Using the Device Restart function of the Commission mobile application, the user can perform a warm or cold restart of the BACnet/IP device.

Connection options

You can choose from several different options to connect the Commission mobile application to one or more BACnet/IP devices.

Bluetooth connection by adapter

With SpaceLogic Bluetooth Adapter, the Commission mobile application can connect to a BACnet/IP device through Bluetooth. You plug the adapter into the side of a SpaceLogic Sensor connected to the controller's sensor bus. For more information, see the SpaceLogic Sensors - SXWS Sensors for MP and RP IP Controllers - Specification Sheet.

Bluetooth connection directly to RP-C

With the Commission mobile application, you can connect directly to an RP-C controller through the controller's onboard Bluetooth connectivity. By default, the controller advertises its name, model name and unique serial number. For more information, see the RP-C Specification Sheet.

Wi-Fi connection

The Commission mobile application can also connect to a single BACnet/IP device or to a network of BACnet/IP devices on the local network, using a Wi-Fi router or a wireless access point.

Wired Ethernet Connection

A mobile device running the Commission mobile application can be connected to a single BACnet/IP device or to a network of BACnet/IP devices on the local network using an Ethernet cable.
