Managing Flow Balance Reports

After flow balancing a VAV unit, you can use the Commission mobile application to create, append, view, or delete flow balance reports.

The Commission mobile application provides the user with a means to generate a flow balance report that documents several values:

  • Box capacity at 1 inch H20 (249 Pa)

  • Box measured flow

  • Hood measured flow for each setpoint used during balancing

  • Actuator stroke and rotation

  • Flow balance time and date

  • Any comments

Using the Commission mobile application, you can create, append, and delete flow balance reports. Flow balance reports are stored on the Commission mobile application mobile device and can be retrieved and shared using the file and e-mail applications of that mobile device or Windows 10 laptop.

After flow balancing a VAV unit, you can use the Commission mobile application to create a new flow balance report, append an existing flow balance report with new information, view an existing flow balance report, or delete flow balance reports that are no longer needed.

Creating, Appending, Viewing, or Deleting a Flow Balance Report

After flow balancing a VAV unit, you can use the Commission mobile application to create, append, view, or delete flow balance reports.

System Location of Flow Balance Reports

The flow balance report file is located in the CommissioningTool\ FlowBalanceReport folder. You can navigate to this folder, using either of two methods:

  • You can use a file navigation utility on the mobile device, for example File Explorer (Windows devices), to perform a search for the folder name.

  • You can select and copy all the contents of the Location box and then paste the text into the search box of a file navigation utility on the mobile device, for example File Explorer, and then execute the search.

Note:

Once you have located the report file, it can be exported. To do this, use the appropriate utility on your device and operating system to transfer the file to another location.

To create a flow balance report

  1. In the Flow balance function, on the Air Balancing menu, select Balance report .

  2. In the Balance Report view, in the Device List , select the check boxes to select the MP-V controllers you want to include in the report. If you wish to include all the listed controllers in the report, select Select all .

  3. Select Create .

  4. In the Create dialog box, in the Report name box, type the report name.

  5. In the Project name box, type the project name.

  6. In the Engineer box, type the engineer name.

  7. In the Create dialog box, the Location box contains the directory path where the flow balance report file is located. If you will export the report file later, copy the directory path to the clipboard. To do this, select the path in the Location box, choose Select All , and then select Copy .

  8. Select OK to create the flow balance report file.

  9. Once the flow balance report file is created, it can be exported. Find the report file by navigating to the CommissioningTool\ FlowBalanceReport folder, using either of two methods:

    • You can use a file navigation utility on the mobile device, for example File Explorer (Windows devices), to perform a search for the folder name.

    • You can follow the path you previously saved to the clipboard. To do this, start a file navigation utility on the mobile device, for example File Explorer, paste the path text into the search box, and then execute the search.

    Note:

    File organization, and navigation within the file structure, varies from one Android platform to another. Therefore, you may need to try more than one approach when searching for the flow balance report file.

To append a flow balance report

  1. In the Commission mobile application, in the Air Balancing menu, select Balance report .

  2. In the Balance Report view, in the Device List , select the check boxes to select the MP-V controllers you want to add to the report.

  3. Select Append .

To delete a flow balance report

  1. In the Commission mobile application, on the Air Balancing menu, select Balance report .

  2. In the Balance Report view, select Manage .

  3. In the Balance Report Management view, select the report you want to view or delete.

  4. To delete the report, select Delete .
