Differences Between RP-C Hardware Versions

There are a number of differences in hardware between different hardware versions of the RP-C-12A-F-24V, RP-C-12B-F-24V, RP-C-12C-F-24V, and RP-C-16A-F-230V controller models.

Table: Differences Between RP-C Hardware Versions

Hardware Feature

SpaceLogic RP-C

Hardware Version a 10 and Later

SmartX IP Controller – RP-C

Hardware Version a 9 and Earlier

DC input, operating voltage range (RP-C-12A-F-24V, RP-C-12B-F-24V, and RP-C-12C-F-24V models only)

23.5 to 33 VDC b

23 to 33 VDC

Screw terminal number 3 (RP-C-16A-F-230V model only)

Protective earth ground

  1. The hardware version is shown on the label on the side of the RP-C-12A-F-24V, RP-C-12B-F-24V, RP-C-12C-F-24V, and RP-C-16A-F-230V controllers models. If the side of the device is not accessible, the text on the front can be used to identify the hardware version. For example, “SpaceLogic RP-C” is displayed on devices of hardware version 10 and later, while “SmartX IP Controller” is printed on devices of hardware version 9 and earlier.
  2. 23.5 VDC is required to obtain sufficient output voltage on the RS-485 Com A and Com B ports. Apart from that, the RP-C still works with 23 VDC supply.
  3. In previous hardware versions, the RS-485 Com A and Com B port are labelled “Sensor Bus” and “Room Bus” respectively.
  4. The RS-485 Com A and B ports are prepared for BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) network communication through modified pin configuration. An RJ45 to screw terminal block adapter is required to connect RP-C to the BACnet MS/TP network of SpaceLogic AS-P or AS-B. The adapter can be ordered from Schneider Electric. In addition, a Cat 5 (or higher) UTP cable with RJ45 connectors is required to connect the adapter. The cable should be rated for the target environment. The cable is not included with the adapter but needs to be purchased separately.
  5. The modified rating does not reflect any changes in the hardware design.
